Important Facilities
House of the Dragon
The House of the Dragon is Kiryu's house, located near the main gates of Gion. From here you can exit to Gion, as well as use the secret passage to exit to Rakugai. See below for details about other features of the House of the Dragon. You will often find yourself passing through here to get to and from Gion/Rakugai. In premium adventure mode (called "Kyoto Tour" in this game), Ageha (Yoshino Tayu) will be in this house. If you talk to her, you can change the time of day.

During important moments in the main story, there are times when Ito and Koetsu will appear in Kiryu's house.
House of the Dragon

1 | Secret Passage | Use this to exit to Rakugai. You can use this from 5-5 onwards. When you exit to Rakugai, Kiryu's outfit will change. This exits out to the left of the main gates of Gion. |
2 | Other Room | You cannot enter this room. When you interact, you will get the option to save the game, use the item storage, watch previously seen cutscenes, and check on your game stats. While this menu is up, Kiryu's health will slowly restore over time until you exit out of it. |
3 | Turtle Tub | A tub in which you keep your turtles. Interacting with the tub will allow you to put turtles in the tub or take them out (and into your inventory). You also have options to feed the turtles and check on their status. You can buy and sell turtles by speaking to the turtle seller in Rakugai. |
4 | Letterbox | Letters sent to Kiryu end up here. This includes letters you receive via pigeons outside. All letters will always remain here, so you can re-read them as many times as you want. |
5 | Exit | The door that exits out to Gion. You don't need to interact with this door in order to leave, but there are points in the story where, when you try to leave, you get an option of "Do you want to rest instead of leaving?" - choosing to rest when presented with this option will progress the story. If you chose not to rest you can exit as normal. |
Inventor - Gyotensai
The small building at the north-east of Gion is where you will find the inventor, Gyotensai. You can enter this building anytime from 5-1 onwards. You can start inventing after talking to Gyotensai for the first time. More items become available to invent as you progress through the main story. Some of these items become available to purchase at stores after inventing them. There is also a request which involves Gyotensai - request 97

You can get a certain revelation here, as well as receive a recipe book for creating new weapons from Gyotensai.
Inventing Items
There are 21 items that can be invented in this game. Some of the items will become available to invent as you progress through the game, however there are some items that will only become available once certain conditions are met. Check the table below for details. All inventions request certain items as "materials" for inventing that item. Some of these items can be obtained as a reward for completing some requests, or from the arena, or from storage lockers.

For materials listed in green writing, the name of the items is unknown. If you choose the wrong item you get a hint, but all the items you used to try inventing it get wasted.

It's impossible to miss him, since you must encounter him during the main story progression, so don't worry about that. When he has new pictures to give to you, he will send a pigeon giving you a letter telling you to visit him at the shrine in Gion.

When you first meet him, he will give you a picture of a cat, along with a brush and ink Kiryu can use to write his revelations.

Blacksmith
In this game, the weapons Kiryu can equip will not break when used in battle. Rather than being used to repair weapons, the blacksmith can be used to improve weapons and craft new ones. In order to create new weapons, you need the necessary recipe book and materials. In addition to materials, it also costs money to upgrade weapons and craft new ones. See the table below to find out where to get hold of all the recipe books in the game.
To see more information (e.g. what materials you need for each weapon), head to the weapons section of this guide.
Refining and Crafting
You can use the blacksmith any time from 5-13 onwards. You cannot miss it since you encounter it as part of the main story. You can use the blacksmith at any time of the day. When you encounter the blacksmith during the main story, the guy will explain about refining and crafting weapons. In the case of the former, you can make your current weapons stronger. In the case of the latter, you can create a new weapon by using one of your (eligible) weapons as a base along with specific materials. You need recipe books to craft weapons, but all you need is money to refine weapons.

The recipe books will tell you what weapons can be created and what materials you need in order to craft it.

Other Facilities
This section looks at some of the other important facilities available in this game. This doesn't look at training facilities or mini-games, both of which have their own page on this guide. This section does give a brief introduction to the arena, but for full details visit the arena page of this guide.
Palanquin
The palanquins are this game's version of the taxi system from other Ryu ga Gotoku games. There are 3 locations which have palanquins - Rakugai, Yoshioka Dojo, and the Riverside Tea House. You can fast travel at any time of the day. This is useful to use if you want to quickly get around the game world, or if you just want to avoid enemy encounters. The palanquin system only becomes available from 5-13 though. It costs 71 Mon for each use.
At first, you can only travel across different parts of Rakugai. You can only fast travel to the other 2 locations once you have visited that location. Also, when you have NPCs accompanying you while travelling the game world, you cannot use the palanquins.

There are specific parts of the main story when you cannot use the palanquins. At these times, you'll have to get to your destination on foot.
Jizo Statues (Save Points)
In various places across the game you will encounter shining Jizo statues. When you interact with these statues, you will have the option to either save or use your item storage. Note that the item storage functionality is only available from 5-1 onwards.

Kiryu's item storage can store a max of 500 items.
Police Box and Bulletin Board
Located at the north-west of Rakugai, the bulletin board is where you can get new bounties. When you pass by the police box for the first time after 6-1 the Okappiki will stop you and introduce you to bounties. Completing bounties will give you various rewards. New bounties become available as you progress through the game (and some require you to complete other bounties first). Full details can be found on the bounties page of this site.

The wanted posters have details about the criminal's name, a sketch of their face, the time and place where you can find them, and the reward for capturing them.
Storage Lockers
The lockers are located in an alley near the main gates of Gion. There are 50 storage keys spread across the game, ranging from A-1 to J-5. When you find a key and open the corresponding locker here, you will receive an item. The keys will only appear after completing commission 104, which is available in 5-5. See the Locker Keys page for full details.

Storage lockers are part of the game's completion menu. If you select the storage lockers from the completion screen you can check what keys you have and which lockers you have already opened.
Information Centre
The information desk is found along the main road of Gion. Here, you can get information about the yujo in Gion. There are 2 brothels you can visit in this game - Azamiya and Yumejiya, with 7 yujo available to you in total. You can also get information about Gion and the gambling den here.

You can get useful advice about what options to pick in conversation with the yujo from here.
Pigeon and Postman
The pigeon and postman deliver letters to Kiryu. The pigeons generally deliver "express delivery" letters, including letters informing you that new drawings are available from Shichigoro, or new training is available from the various trainers in the game. The postman is more of a courier service and delivers completion rewards.

Various events can trigger a pigeon or postman delivery, such as when new training becomes available after leveling up.
Arena
You first compete in the arena in 8-10 as part of the story, but you cannot freely use the arena until 9-1. There are 12 tournaments in total and 50 fighters to compete against. At first, you can only compete in 2 of the tournaments. More will become available as you progress through the game, or by winning certain tournaments a certain amount of times. Each tournament consists of 8 fighters (including Kiryu) and 3 rounds. If you win all 3 rounds, you win the tournament and receive various rewards.

There's a monk near the reception desk. If you speak to him, he will give you tips on how you unlock new tournaments.
